Goodbye to wisdom

Boy, has this been one lazy week.

Justin had his wisdom teeth taken out on Monday, which means he was ordered to stay home from work for three days to recover. He was doing pretty well by the end of the first day, but I'm glad he had a couple extra days to rest. But it made for a really lazy week for both of us.

I have to say, though, I wasn't prepared for the post-surgery entertainment. Justin was pretty out of it for the first 45 mins or so, and he was talking and playing little pranks like a 5-year-old. Although, during the first 10 mins I really had to use my imagination to figure out what he was saying, what with all the gauze still in his mouth and the anesthesia wearing off.

After his surgery, two nurses helped him out of a wheelchair and into the car and said he had come out like Rocky. Justin started weakly punching the air, with his eyes half closed and mouth hanging open. He was very effusive with the nurses, telling them thank you and giving them two thumbs up, wanting to make quite sure that everyone knew they were appreciated. Then we pulled into the Walgreen's drive through, and as I was talking with the pharmacist about the order, Justin kept waving and saying hello as she tried not to laugh.

On the way home he was starting to come around more and was repeating some of the stories he had told me earlier. I would finish his stories and he would ask, still in a little kid voice, "How did you know that?" and I would say, "You already told me!" And then he would giggle and say, "Oh. I don't remember." I so wish you could hear him say it in that voice. It was adorable and hilarious.

I hope that story gives you half the chuckle it gave me. I know it's not as funny second hand. Do any of you have amusing anesthesia stories to share?

Haha! Kyle was the same way when he got his wisdom teeth out! Except he was really sarcastic with the nurses and kept asking for his teeth (that they just took out). He too repeated the same stories all the way home, but once he got there, he crashed! It was really amusing. I haven't had my wisdom teeth out yet, so maybe I will have a story someday too...

I hope Justin is recovering well! Have a great weekend!

I have this absolute fear and detest of anything related to my teeth when it comes to dentists and such. So naturally when it came to having my wisdom teeth pulled, you can imagine I really wasn't looking forward to it. I know the anesthesia had a nice effect on me as I kept asking repeatedly to see the teeth they had pulled. As soon as they showed me and put them aside I'd ask again. The idea of looking at them now still makes me shudder. I remember also collapsing in the hall as I was walking out to the car. And lastly, I remember on the drive home I wanted nothing other than ice cream from McDonalds at 10am and as it was being spoon fed to me in the back of the car I remember looking over at the car beside us to see this guy laughing his head off at the sight of me as I had more ice cream dribbling down my face than what was going in my mouth.

Here's hoping for a quick full recovery Justin!

Good times. Justin also asked me if the dentist was going to give him back his teeth. He was very disappointed to learn that was not the case and then insisted that the dentist must owe him money in exchange for his teeth. Glad everyone survived with just a few funny stories to tell!

HAHHA! Funny Justin:) My dear mother took the most horrific pictures of me after I got my wisdom teeth out. She still has them! I fell asleep on one side and was SO swolen so when I woke up I had a mouth full of blood because I had been putting pressure on one side. Before she could wake me and help out, she had to snap a picture of me drooling blood (thanks mom!) and then helped me to the bathroom where I promptly fainted. Lovely.

Anyways, just wanted to let you know that I finally posted from when you tagged me:) Sorry it took so long!!
