Hey friends. Are you feeling creative today? I hope so. I'm in need of some creativity, and I'm looking to you to find it. I may be using you, but I use you because you're brilliant. :-D
I have too much time on my hands these days and am trying not to just waste my days away. Thus, I'm hoping to get a jumpstart on this year's Christmas list, but I'm also hoping for a little help. Any innovative Christmas present ideas--either for this year or for past years? (Is it too early to ask you all to answer that question?) And, as a somewhat unrelated question, anyone cutting back on gifts this year?

Last year we made our own wrapping paper since we were living in transition up in Altus and didn't want to buy a roll of paper. So we used our paper bags, purchased a little bit of cheap paint from Wal-Mart and used stale bread that we had cut into fun shapes. We had fun with it and it turned out totally cute too!
So this is what I'm working on... Tim and I have these muffins we love to make. I got these cute brown coffee bags at "If It's Paper" for like $.30 each. I'm going to put all of the dry ingredients in the bag along with the recipe. Then I'm making a label for the outside of the bag that says something like "Tim and Ali's Favorite Muffin Mix." Then I'll give them as gifts and people can easily make their own yummy muffins. I think it should only cost a couple dollars for each one. Have fun!
preston and i are planning on making gift baskets this year. not in the usual "basket" really, but some sort of container that can be used later (like a cute metal basket or decorative storage box). we're gonna fill them with wine, chocolates, cheeses, photos, movies...whatever we can think of that the person might like. it's cheaper especially to give to families/couples who can both use the stuff
